Bill Gate greatest mistake in his career. In recent interviews, Microsoft’s founder discussed Microsoft’s failure to become Apple’s iOS rival chief is its “greatest mistake.” Bill Gates said in a recent interview with Village Global: “In the software world, especially for platforms,
these are where winner-take-all markets, so the biggest mistake I’ve ever made is mismanagement I’ve engaged that cause Microsoft to not be what Android is today.
Android is the standard non-Apple phone platform. so There’s room for exactly one non-Apple operating system.”
Talking about how the company failed to employ “the best” mobile staff, Gates said in an interview with the Economic Club in Washington, DC on Monday:
“We knew the mobile phone was going to be very popular so we were doing what was called Windows Mobile. We missed a very small quantity of being the dominant mobile operating system, “CNN cited Gates at the case as stating.
“During our antitrust trial, we were distracted. We have not assigned the best people to do the job. So it’s the biggest mistake I made about something within our skill set. We were clearly the company that was supposed to do that — and we didn’t.
Microsoft launched its Windows Mobile mobile operating system in 2000. In 2007, Apple launched the iPhone, and in 2008, Google launched Android. Bill Gates said the misstep might cost the company billions of dollars that went to Google in the end.
