Lionel Messi's U-turn about not leaving Barcelona has had its significance on his personal earnings as the Argentine star would emerge the highest paid footballer on the planet ahead of the new season, Forbes claim.

Portugal and Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo came second on the list following his huge contract with the Italian club.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint Germain forwards Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe made the top 5 list as the came 3rd and 4th respectively.
Liverpool forward, Mohammed Salah completes the top 5.

Manchester United midfield maestro Paul Pogba came 6th on list following his huge contract with the English club. His fellow national teammate Antoine Griezmann came 7th. Real Madrid winger, Gareth Bale came 8th on the list, followed by champions league winner and Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski on 9th.
While, Manchester United and Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea complete the top 10.
